A Stroll along the Canopy

This morning I woke up before my alarm because I was so excited to do the canopy walkway. At breakfast M and M. J. decided they would not be coming with us because they thought it was going to rain and they wanted to do computer work. I did not think it was going to rain, I thought today was going to be great because it was Sunday. Before we left I saw a really cute little green frog at the station. The frog was just fun and delightful to see. T and I were able to go to the walk way really quickly, but on the way we did stop and watch a spider monkey for a few minutes. The monkeys have been acting really off from their regular schedule according to the primate people. This meant we had a good chance of seeing a group of monkeys at the walk way even though it was mid morning. At the walk way I had to teach T how to put a harness on and instruct him on how to use the straps to always be hooked to the walk way. The walk way felt very stable to me. I would have felt just fine without my harness, so I felt really safe with it. T and I were deciding which direction we wanted to go when I noticed a group of wooly monkeys going to the platform known as the Crow's Nest. The Crow's Nest is a small platform that is about two feet by two feet.  I climbed up to the crow's nest first and I was nervous that the monkeys would be scared and scamper away. Well thanks to the primate people the monkeys were comfortable enough that they came within about six feet of me. It was so amazing. I absolutely loved it. The whole group was around us. At one point I counted 10 different monkeys. I saw all different ages of monkeys. I think the little baby monkey was super cute holding onto its mother. After about 45 minutes they moved on. T and I then continued on with our exploration of the canopy walk way. The rest of the walk way was not as exciting but still enjoyable. There were lots of ants and sweat bees. After another hour, enjoying a little breeze, we decided to go back to the station so we could shower before lunch. Instead of making it back to the station we ended going up the tower to chat with S. It was a nice little chat, then T left and I stayed longer to finish taking pictures of some orchids. I love flowers. They just make me smile. I had to hurry back to the station to take a two minute shower. I can say that it was my fastest shower ever. Even then I was still a little late to lunch. Then M.J. decided she wanted to take a nap, so I decided that I was going to go sit on the stairs at the boat pavilions with my feet in the water and read. I did that for a while then I did some embroidery. By that time I still had a few hours before M was going to present her thesis for us so I decided to take a nap while listening to music. It was a wonderful nap. The rest of the evening has been fairly regular.
The river has risen even higher. It has now almost covered the volleyball court which normally is about 20 feet away from the river. The height above the river changes from day to day. With the river so high we will for sure be getting wet tomorrow.  We are going to the trail were we should be wet to mid thigh and not wet above the waist. I wouldn't be bugged by going and doing those trails, but the rest of the team are reluctant to get wet. Which I think is silly, we are after all in the jungle right?
